BREAKING NEWS

Breaking news is news that has happened within the last hour or two. It could also be news that became known within the last hour or two but happened farther in the past.

This needs to be published quickly. The word-length requirement is 80 words. You do not need an image.

You do need to provide a source and citation (links to other news reports or coverage, which could be on social media such as Twitter)–this is most important. You also need to include a byline (by Your Name). You should include a Headline (title of the article) and a link to your online presence (social media, website, etc.).

You can contact us in a number of ways. If we do not respond, be persistent. However, if it is after-hours (we often have editors working after hours, but not always), we may be unavailable. Email [email protected]

NEWS TIPS

If you want to tip us off about some news you think deserves publicity, send it to [email protected]

What is most important is the ability to VERIFY your news. Tell us how we can find out if the information you tell us is true. Tell us how you know the information. If we cannot verify the truth of the news, we cannot publish it. Also, provide any possible sources that we can follow up on or any relevant links.
