Blog Writers

Hello to anyone who I’ve directed to this page.

What this page is for: People who have expressed interest in writing, and who we’d like to try out and see how their writing is.

Well, it turns out that over the past months we have received a lot of messages from people who are interested in writing. Some of them have gone on to write an article, some have written a few articles, but most don’t really stick with it and many don’t go any further than the initial communication where we talk about how to move forward with this. It’s been a lot of work to explain each time, so I had to put this post together. I hope you’ll understand. I like working with writers (and anyone else I’m working with) and that is what will happen with you after you’ve written a few articles for us and I can see it’d be a good idea to start working together.

Where to start: Because of what I mentioned earlier about the amount of energy and time it takes us to explain things to new writers, we are now doing it like this: all new writers can submit 3 articles to us to show us they are serious about writing. As long as we are able to publish these articles, these articles are considered paid articles (we pay by PayPal, preferably).

After we have 3 articles from you, we’ll start to work with you on further steps. At first we will be offering less involved help, but it will be the kind of help that will be necessary for you at that point. The more committed we see a writer is, the more we will work with them.

Some writers worry about the requirements of the articles or what to write about. Do not worry about this. The most important thing about the first 3 to us is that we can see that you’re serious.

The articles for anybody directed to this page are for blogs, not news. You can see that The Speaker (this website) is a serious news site, but most blog articles are published on our blog sites. I just put this page here so you can see that we’re a serious organization with credibility, and hopefully you’ll see that you can trust us.

Because the articles are blogs, not serious news, they don’t need to be written to the standards of serious news. You can write just as you would to a friend. Conversationally, explaining things, excited about interesting things you have found or noticed. I repeat: you do not need to be any kind of “expert writer.” Actually, more friendly, common writing is often better for blogging. You don’t need high level grammar or spelling (use spell check, though). If you can write it so you can understand it and it’s an interesting, fun read, you’ve got it.

Articles should be around 300-500 words in length. That’s the equivalent of around 5 or 6 paragraphs where each paragraph has around 3 or 4 sentences. Some articles can be a bit shorter. There is no maximum word length.

If you want to write but don’t know what to write about, just find something you like, on social media or the internet or a magazine you have at home or that you saw on TV or anywhere else, and write on that. You do need a photo image though. You can get photos from the internet. Make sure they are not too small, though. That will be fine for your first article. For your second article, you can request a topic and we’ll send you one.

That’s it. You can send your articles to me however we first communicated. For example, if we messaged on Facebook, send the articles in our message stream.
