Pay At The Speaker

Credit

All writers / photographers get credit for anything they produce. This is not even a question at The Speaker, and the only reason I answer it is because people have surprised us by asking. Also, anyone who has published at least a couple of articles will also have an account created for them on the site. The account includes a staff page where a contributor can create a bio and add links to their social media accounts, under which is a list of all their articles on The Speaker. All their articles have a small author information section below them and link to their staff page.

Pay

We pay fairly based on revenue. All writers get the same.

Writers receive roughly half of the income generated by any articles they are responsible for. Revenue is generated by advertising. Pay is based on unique page visits (different computers accessing a given article). It is not based on page views (total number of times a page is loaded, including multiple loads from a single computer). It is not based on click-through rate or ad type. It is based only on the amount of people who read an article.

Note: We do not publish based on a preference for popular news. We actively publish the news people care about enough to write. Many contributors at The Speaker write about the news they care about rather than the news many people will want to read. It is part of what The Speaker is and does. Obviously, these articles generate less revenue. For writers focused more on generating revenue or creating a name or career for themselves in a given area of news, we will work with you in several ways to make this happen.
