We may still work with you at some point in the future.
Keep us in mind. If you have a new story, or new line of coverage, reach out to us and tell us about it (in brief). If we like it, we will hire you to write it. Even if we already have a writer for that country or subject, we will never give the story to them as long as you want to write it and are capable of covering it news-wise. It’s only honorable to hire the person who comes up with the idea.
Also, we may expand as we need more coverage for a country or subject. We also may replace a writer who we hired but isn’t a good fit.
We received a lot of applications, and are hiring just one or sometimes a few journalists to cover each of the countries and subjects we want to cover (not every country in the world, but many). We hire based on first come, first served. If we get 50 applications, we pursue the first good one, and as long as his journalism is good and he responds to our messages quickly, there’s no need to consider the other 49. However, if you feel you should be writing for The Speaker, keep communicating with us. We’re open to the idea, and we want to work with the people who should be in this organization.
Also, if you have a one-off story and just want to see it printed, you can send it to us with the subject “SUBMITTED ARTICLE FOR THE SPEAKER TO PRINT.” We will usually find time to review it and if it’s newsworthy, we will print it. Make sure you cite any sources if your story includes claims that require sources. If it’s just one short article, this will not be paid. However, if it becomes a habit where you are sending articles and we are liking and printing them, we will probably hire you in some way.
Anything you send to us, you can send to our Facebook page as a message. Send us the text and any images IN THE MESSAGE. Don’t send us attachments or links.
